Dawn of Worlds - a Worldbuilding experiment
During the second age as the population of the world was growing and conflict had just begun a great hole opened in the center of the continent. From this fissure Goblins poured out but they were simply the first stage in an invasion from within. In the subsequent years something much greater was released through what would become known as “The Wound”. A powerful entity known as Aragoth the Unspeakable crawled out of the Wound and into the world. A being that radiated malevolence, Aragoth claimed to be sent to cleanse the world of the weak “mistakes of lesser Gods”
In his wake came Demons, beings of pure evil likely from another plane. Like Aragoth they had vast powers and a propensity for violence and mayhem. Demons came in all shapes and sizes from tiny imps to huge pit fiends. The most treacherous were the demons who could take mortal forms and mix with the population or possess others to do their dark bidding.
After the destruction of Aragoth, the Source was annihilated and the wound was closed, effectively cutting Demons off from their home. Those that remained out in the world scattered to the undiscovered portions of the continent but many hid in the cities and holds of the peoples of the world
